Summer Reading
Fiction is closely tied to the imagination, of course, and ties closely to the idea of the “imaginal,” a key term incorporated by an author I’ve recently developed a strong attraction to: James Hilllman. His emphasis on the soul—as foundation of the psyche and psychology—is aligned with an idea that I’ll be sharing more about in coming months: a post-tragic state of being and consciousness.
His Re-visioning Psychology is a classic.
The final one I’m looking forward to over the next month or so is Bleeding Out by Thomas Abt. Violent crime and homicides have been rising this year; and in urban communities in big cities, these issues are especially predominant. But what are some solutions and models? This work is acclaimed in the field of public safety—something all citizens should be aware of and concerned about.
What will your summer reading be?
