Ready To Reimagine American Identity?

In a previous post, we invited you to join us for a free event on September 14th—Answering the Call—an opportunity to explore your thoughts and actions related to America’s racial reckoning. In the meantime, we’d like to share the e-book we’ve created of conversations between Greg and I and our friend and colleague, Amiel Handlesman. Reimagining American Identity frames the work of American author Albert Murray (Greg’s mentor) to examine American identity. Part 1 will introduce you to Murray and his the Omni-American Vision; Part II looks at Answering the Call with Murray in Mind; and Part III brings The Omni-American Heroine’s Journey into the conversation.

Such a reimagining will take civic leadership, a form of shared leadership, and one of the ways we can bring about transformative societal change as we redefine and reimagine what we can each contribute to the landscape of racial reckoning. Shared Leadership, a principle of JLP, is a foundation for collaborative responsibility and accountability grounded in respect and trust based on common goals.  The jazz model is a “we space” of collective intelligence, inclusive group synergy, and high-level collaboration. Reimagining American identity will require all of this and more.
