Jazz Leadership’s Online Adventure

By now, you’re familiar with our Jazz Leadership Project and our approach to heighten leadership and team development through the principles and practices of jazz. We are a premium service, and for several years, have worked with companies like Google, Center for Policing Equity, Eaton Corporation, Verizon, and others. It is always gratifying when participants of our workshops gain novel insights and ‘aha’ moments as they connect with the principles and practices of high-performing jazz ensembles.

Greg and I have shared ideas and stories on this blog centering on collaborative leadership through the cultural lens of jazz. As we developed this jazz leadership model and worked with companies, we’ve also considered how we can bring these collaborative leadership tools to individuals striving to be better leaders. Moving into a digital learning space seemed an excellent option. For the past eighteen months we’ve been creating an online platform of our model that individuals, teams, and organizations can use as a self-paced learning resource to better confront Challenge, Conflict, and Competition.

So today, we’re sharing with you, our supportive subscribers, what we intend to be the first of several digital learning experiences, starting with “Challenge, Conflict and Competition” (CCC).  Each of these learning experiences are called a quest (harkening back to the hero/heroine journey). Every quest has several levels made up of various missions. The completion of each mission advances you to the next one which allows you to progress to the next level.

Challenges and conflicts are part of life’s flow and can particularly be stressful at work, where we are navigating relationship dynamics, time demands, and success pressure. How we deal with these challenges and conflicts is a testament to our leadership skills.

We’ve selected two missions for you to freely sample—Collaborative Leadership and Your Sound—two concepts that are essential to successfully managing conflict and challenges. As a participant, you’ll have an option to create a private journal to note reflections on your learnings, as well as opportunities to engage with other CCC questers in the Jazz Leadership Community.

For those who want to go further into the quest, TIL subscribers will have a discount code which will take $100 off the full CCC digital learning fee. Once you do, the remaining nine missions will be made available to you.

We’d, of course, love your feedback on our new venture. When you complete the sample quest, please add your comments below the post on the website or send them to Greg and me directly at gj@jazzleadershipproject.com.
